MJV Masonry and Contracting was established in 1994.
I started learning my Masonry trade from my father. Starting at age 12 in 1972 I helped him around the jobsite and learned to mix mortar. I eventually learned pretty much every aspect of the trade from him and others whom I worked for along the way.
I took a bit of a hiatus in 1990 to get a college degree but throughout the summers I kept my hand in my masonry work. After college I worked in the mental health field for a while and got an interesting perspective on life and human nature. I have carried my care for those who have brokenness in their lives with me. I would spend some of my time off during those years rebuilding chimneys and doing minor repairs on peoples houses.
In the year 2000 I left my work in the mental health field and started working on my business full time. I did a lot of work for builders and contractors such as Branthaven Homes and Losani Homes and put a lot of brick and stone on many beautiful new homes.
Eventually I got more involved in more of a mix of larger and smaller projects to develop a greater diversity in the work that we could tackle.
I especially love being involved in projects of stone and flagstone as I love the beauty of the finished product.
This winter I am planning to get my WETT certification so I will become government certified for chimney inspections and installation of chimney lining systems.
Though I have a good knowledge of many aspects of my business I am interested in learning more.
Throughout the years I have done some other types of projects as well renovating a couple of homes and building as dormer; as well as a number of painting, bathroom rebuild and tile projects.
I have qualified experienced workmen working for me who make sure your project is completed with quality workmanship.
